Prompt Research & Creation
Discover high-impact prompts to monitor and improve your brand visibility across AI platforms.
TL;DR
Use our AI-powered prompt research to discover high-impact queries for your brand. Enter your keywords, select a target persona and market, and our research pipeline generates optimized prompts tailored to your needs — ready to monitor across ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity.
What Is Prompt Research?
AI-Assisted Prompt Discovery
Prompt Research is an AI-assisted feature that helps you discover the optimal prompts to monitor your brand visibility across AI platforms. Instead of manually guessing which questions users might ask AI assistants about your industry, our research tool analyzes your keywords and generates a comprehensive set of prompts tailored to your specific use case.
The goal is to uncover the exact queries that real users type into ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, and Perplexity — so you can track whether your brand appears in the responses and how it is positioned relative to competitors.
Starting a Research
How to Start a Prompt Research
- Navigate to the Prompt Research section from your dashboard or the main menu.
- Enter one or more keywords related to your brand, product, or industry.
- Select a target persona to tailor the generated prompts:
- Investor — Prompts focused on financial performance, market position, and growth potential.
- Journalist — Prompts oriented toward news, trends, and industry developments.
- B2B Buyer — Prompts centered on product comparisons, enterprise features, and vendor evaluation.
- Consumer — Prompts reflecting everyday purchase decisions, reviews, and recommendations.
- Choose your target market and language to ensure prompts are culturally and linguistically relevant.
- Click Start Research to submit your request.
How It Works
The Research Pipeline
When you submit a prompt research request, the following happens behind the scenes:
- Your keywords are submitted to our research pipeline.
- Our AI analyzes the keywords in the context of your selected persona and market.
- The system generates a set of optimized prompts tailored to your persona, market, and language.
- The generated prompts are presented for your review — you can accept, edit, or discard individual prompts.
The entire process typically takes just a few moments. The resulting prompts are designed to reflect how real users in your target audience would naturally query AI assistants.
Auto-Assignment to Topic Areas
Automatic Topic Area Assignment
If you start a prompt research from within a Topic Area, the generated prompts are automatically assigned to that Topic Area. This saves you the extra step of manually adding prompts after they are created.
You can also run prompt research independently from the main Prompt Research page. In that case, prompts are created without a Topic Area assignment, and you can assign them later as needed.
Tip: Starting prompt research from within a Topic Area is the fastest way to build a comprehensive set of monitoring prompts for a specific project or brand.
Writing Custom Prompts
Tips for Crafting Effective Prompts
In addition to AI-generated prompts, you can write your own custom prompts. Here are some tips for crafting effective prompts:
- Include your brand name — Make sure your brand or product name appears in the prompt so you can track whether AI assistants mention it in their responses.
- Be specific — Narrow prompts yield more actionable results. Instead of "best software," try "best project management software for remote teams in 2025."
- Ask for recommendations — Prompts that ask for recommendations, comparisons, or "top 10" lists are more likely to produce responses that mention specific brands.
- Use natural language — Write prompts the way a real person would ask a question. Conversational prompts tend to produce more realistic results.
- Cover different angles — Create prompts for different use cases, buyer stages, and perspectives to get a comprehensive view of your brand visibility.
Multi-Platform Considerations
How Prompts Perform Across AI Platforms
The same prompt may produce different results across different AI platforms. Here is what to keep in mind:
- ChatGPT — Tends to provide comprehensive, conversational responses. May favor well-known brands with strong online presence.
- Gemini — Integrates Google Search results and may emphasize brands with strong SEO performance.
- Claude — Known for balanced, nuanced responses. May provide more detailed comparisons between brands.
- Perplexity — Heavily citation-based with source links. Brands mentioned in authoritative sources are more likely to appear.
Because of these differences, it is important to monitor your brand visibility across all supported platforms rather than focusing on just one. A prompt that shows strong visibility on ChatGPT may yield different results on Perplexity or Gemini.
Best Practices
Getting the Most Out of Prompt Research
- Start broad, then narrow — Begin with general industry keywords to discover the landscape, then create more specific prompts based on what you learn.
- Use different funnel stages — Create prompts for each stage of the buyer journey: Awareness (general questions), Consideration (comparisons), and Decision (specific product queries).
- Test variations — Try rephrasing the same question in different ways. Small wording changes can significantly affect which brands appear in AI responses.
- Monitor competitors — Include prompts that mention competitor brands to understand how AI platforms position your brand relative to alternatives.
- Refresh regularly — AI responses change over time. Run prompt research periodically to discover new relevant queries as your market evolves.
- Leverage personas — Run separate research sessions for different personas to build a well-rounded set of monitoring prompts that cover all your target audiences.
Remember: The quality of your visibility insights depends directly on the quality and diversity of your prompts. Invest time in building a comprehensive prompt library for the best results.
