Selection Notes
Add notes to specific dates in your Visibility Trend chart to document changes, campaigns, or events.
TL;DR
Selection Notes let you mark important dates directly in the Visibility Trend chart. Each note appears as a colored vertical line at the chosen date, making it easy to correlate visibility changes with specific actions like campaign launches, website updates, or content changes.
What Are Selection Notes?
Selection Notes are annotations tied to specific dates within a Topic Area. They are displayed as vertical dashed lines in the Visibility Trend chart, helping you:
- Document when important changes occurred (e.g. website relaunch, new content published)
- Track marketing campaigns and their impact on AI visibility
- Share context with team members who have access to the same Topic Area
- Correlate visibility score changes with specific actions
Adding a Note

Open the Notes Panel
Navigate to your Topic Area results page. Below the Visibility Trend chart, click the "Manage Notes" button to expand the notes panel. -
Select a Date
Use the date picker to choose the date you want to annotate. This should be the date when the event or change occurred. -

Write a short description of the event or change (up to 255 characters). For example: "New landing page launched" or "Google Ads campaign started". -
Choose a Color
Pick a color for the vertical line in the chart. Use different colors to categorize different types of events (e.g. blue for content changes, green for campaigns). -
Save the Note
Click "Add Note" to save. The note will immediately appear as a vertical dashed line in the Visibility Trend chart.

Notes in the Chart
Each note is displayed in the Visibility Trend chart as follows:
- Vertical Dashed Line — A colored dashed line marks the date of the note on the x-axis.
- Label — The note text appears as a label at the top of the chart line.
- Color Coding — Each note uses its chosen color, making it easy to distinguish between different types of events.
Notes are also summarized as small badges below the chart, showing the date and a preview of the note text.
Typical Use Cases
Here are some common scenarios where notes are particularly useful:
- Campaign launches — Mark the start date of Google Ads, social media, or PR campaigns to see their effect on AI visibility.
- Website changes — Document website relaunches, new landing pages, or structural changes that may affect how AI systems reference your content.
- Content updates — Note when you published new blog posts, updated product pages, or added FAQ sections.
- Competitor actions — Track significant competitor moves that could influence your relative AI visibility.
Good to Know
- Notes are visible to all users who have access to the Topic Area, including team members with read-only access.
- Only users with edit access can create, modify, or delete notes. Read-only users can see existing notes but cannot change them.
- You can add multiple notes for the same date if needed.
